A Mask A Day Keeps The Winter Blues Away

by Jennifer | Jan 26, 2017

If you have been reading my blog you know I travel a lot. We are spending the holidays on the East Coast this year and we are having so much fun with friends and family. But being back East means chilly mornings and even colder nights, which dries out my skin and hair.   I have been finding using my face and hair masks more often than usual has definitely been helping repair my dry dull winter skin and hair.  Below you will find my two go to masks and a few others I have picked up in my travels, along with my thoughts on them.

Thomas Peter Roth Rose Stem Cell Mask

This pretty pink mask is one of my go to gel repair masks. It can either be left on for about 20 minutes and washed away with warm water or left on overnight for a more intense treatment. It’s one of my favorites because it lives my skin radiant and soft.  It is available here at Nordstrom.

Algenist Algae Brightening Mask

This mask is from one of my favorite skin care brands and is my second go to mask.  The algae brightening mask is a thicker green mask that makes you look like a swamp monster when on but once taken off the complete opposite. My skin looks refreshed, flawless and my pores minimized. It can be found at Sephora.

Christophe Robin Regenerating Mask

Christophe Robin Regenerating Mask with rare prickly pear seed oil was a nice surprise I found inside one of my Sephora Play boxes. I was so taken by it I have already ordered the full size version. This is a hair mask. I have only used a handful of hair masks prior since I could not find one I loved. This was “the one” for me because it has a thick creamy texture that leaves my hair soft and shiny without being too heavy and greasy. It can be found at Sephora.

Yes To Tomatoes Charcoal Paper Mask

This is one of the masks I picked up to travel with. I love individually packaged paper masks they are so easy to throw in my beauty bag and go. The application on this one was mess free and it was easy to apply. I chose this charcoal mask since I have been hearing so much about the benefits of Charcoal on your skin. After putting on it was a bit tingly but the instructions said if it tingles it is good. I would use this mask at night just in case the tingling does bother you or if you have sensitive skin. The instructions said you did not have to wash off with water when removed but I did have some residue left after removing so I simply wiped away. Overall the mask left my skin feeling very clean. I would definitely purchase more of these masks and maybe use at least twice a month for a deep clean. I picked this item up at Target

Pretty Animalz by Look Beauty

While shopping for health and beauty items at Target this mask just caught my eye. And I am sure you can see why. The packaging is so bright and it has the cutest tiger on it. The Mask is by Look Beauty from their line Pretty Animalz. There were several animals to choose from each focusing on different problem skin. I of course picked the Tiger which is a moisturizing sheet mask. This mask like the previous came in an easy to open package,it was mess free, I just pulled out the sheet, unfolded it and matched the eye, mouth, and nose holes onto my own face. Once on I was transformed into a Tiger since the mask has an image on the animal printed on it.  I am glad I did this at night while my little ones were sleeping, I am pretty sure they would have been petrified of my face. Overall I was very pleased with the mask since it was under $3, I will be taking the other animals from the line home soon.
