Quick Sweets and Eats In Napa

by Jennifer | Jan 31, 2017

Yesterday’s post was about my two favorite vineyards in Napa. Besides wine Napa is also known for great high-end restaurants, bakeries, and casual eateries.  Most of them with ingredients that are farm to fork.  Today I am going to write about my two favorite quick sweets and eats.  After or in between all that wine tasting you always need to refuel.  When you are in winery tour mode it is great to get your items quick, to go, or even to hang on for later.

Dean & Deluca

Dean & Deluca is a foodies’ dream come true.  They have everything from fine cheeses to gummy bears.  They specialize in gourmet prepared foods and imported rare finds.  The store is so easy to shop since everything is signed and staffed with friendly knowledgeable associates.  Shopping the store is an experience in its self.  There are sample stations at every turn and if you are on the fence about something just ask and the staff will give you a taste.  The Chile Crunch is a mouth watering addition to crackers and breads.  We took this one home and I plan on using it a lot.

Besides all the gourmet food choices they also have an extensive wine collection.  Along with a beautiful tasting area.  And a huge selection of chef worthy cooking tools for purchase.

The twins went crazy for the dessert case filled with cupcakes, macaroons, and chocolate cakes.  If that was not enough for our sweet tooth directly across was another case of truffles, fine chocolates and gummy treats.

We headed to the deli area to get our lunch to go, to later eat in a picnic area at one of our favorite wineries.  There was something for everyone, the twins choose their favorite chicken fingers and I dined on the BLAT (bacon, lettuce, avocado, tomato sandwich).  The staff packed up our order to go complete with utensils, napkins and plates.  If you choose to eat your goodies there they offer outside seating.  Our food was excellent and we look forward to going back next we are in Napa.  We highly recommend visiting Dean & Deluca, five stars from us.

Bouchon Bakery

And now on to the famous Bouchon Bakery in Yountville.  This bakery is a must for anybody visiting the Napa area.  Be prepared there is usually a line outside but the place is ran flawlessly.  In cooler weather they have lamp heaters outside to keep customers in line warm.  The friendly staff makes the wait move quickly and your experience a sweet one.  It is located in downtown Yountville (one of my favorite neighborhoods in the Napa area.) Everything is made there fresh from scratch and is oh so delectable.  They have breads, muffins, a variety of flavored macaroons, cookies, coffees, lattes and more!

After only waiting a few minutes outside I was inside the bakery and could smell all the sweet treats and freshly brewed coffee.  We then ordered a few of our favorites.  Some to eat there as we strolled the Main Street in Yountville and some for later that trip and to bring home.  The twins loved their cookie sandwich which consisted of a cookie filled with chocolate fudge in the middle.  The cookie was so large the four of us all shared it!

My all time favorite is the fuggedaboutit!  Wrapped in its gold foil you just know it will be special.  What’s inside you ask? A Rice Krispie treat drizzled in Carmel then dipped in chocolate and topped with sea salt.  Eating this treat makes you feel like you are Charlie at the Chocolate Factory and you just got the golden ticket!  Two thumbs up from us for this amazing bakery!
